Community Health
Eat Well, Live Well
A Healthy Community
In 2020, during the pandemic, Lotus Health Foundation rolled out a series of “Rebuilding resilience with self-care and lifestyle choices” Initiative. The three phases of the initiative were “Wearing Masks, Saving Lives”, “Stay Calm, Stay Well”, and “Eat Well, Live Well”.
The impact of the initiative continues today with the Farmacy Rx Community Garden.
Our Purpose
To invite health care providers to prescribe healthy produce as medicine, feed the hungry in the community, and teach the lifestyle medicine principal of nutrition. Several free community classes were planned to educate the public, including youth and family focused programs.
The Garden
The garden was created in the open lot adjacent to Rochester Clinic. The project was lead by Kim Sin and Kelly Rae Kirkpatrick with collaborative effort from UMR faculty and staff, and community growers. Special thanks to Rochester Sand & Gravel for donating soil for the garden.
