The “PlantPure Nation” is a documentary following “Forks Over Knives” to show the challenges of gaining support from political parties to recognize the health benefits of a diet composed primarily of fruits, vegetables and legumes. Despite the disappointment, Nelson Campbell, son of Colin Campbell, decided to promote Whole Food, Plant-based diet through a 10-day “Jump Starts” pilot project in his hometown of Mebane, North Carolina. Many of the participants were raised on southern comfort foods such as meat, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, but they were able to see the proven results from the diet changed to plant based. Can a nationwide health revolution actually begin in a town as rural and small as Mebane? This movie also explores the topical issues of the small family farmer, food deserts, modern medicine and the challenges of getting plant-based nutrition included in the political process.
